we made it

I have been so incredibly excited for the past 24 hours, and coming home was totally worthy of that excitment. The not sleeping last night perhaps wasn't my finest idea - well, I was excited - as it's 1am UK time (6pm MST) and Torin decided to wake up. I guess at least we had 5 hours sleep, with a feed in between, before she was up.

The flight over was pretty good, on the whole. We arrived at the airport early and took advantage of my Elite status with Air Canada to stay in the Lounge and eat free food and drink free drinks. It was actually very relaxing. Then we got priority clearance onto the plane and sat just behind first class. Seeing as my travel when I return to work (boo hiss) will be much reduced (hooray) we'll be making the most of our lounge access at LHR.

Torin was pretty perfect on the flight out. She needed to sleep 20 minutes before boarding and 20 minutes before landing, and there was the odd 'I'm tired' weeble, but otherwise she delighted 3 ladies in the row opposite with her singing and laughing. We didn't get any offers of babysitting from the crew but we were good.

Getting a bassinet for Torin, the reason we sat where we were, was a little trickier.
AC: Can she sit up?
GK: Yes, if we put her in a sitting position
AC: Hmm, we're not supposed to give it to you if she can sit up
GK: Techincally 'she' can't sit up
AC: Well, how heavy is she?
GK: 18lbs (limit is 22)
AC: Well, we're not really supposed to give it to you if she can sit up...

Bassinet duly arrived and Torin eventually got into it, only to have to be removed and sleep with mummy becuase she's not allowed in it during turbulance.

Hey ho!

And a swift border crossing with my 2 immigrants, immediate arrival of baggage and we were out in the sweltering London air, waiting for Grandma. Seriously, it's HOT here. And so fantastic to be home.

Niamh, Leah and Ellen were all waiting for us :) Just perfect!
