Useful Information on Torin

My Uncle Steve is incredibly knowledgable about all sorts of stuff:

Torin (Rhymes with Florin) -meaning either 'little hill' or 'chief'.

If "Torin" means "hill", it would seem to come from the Celtic (think, "tors" in Cornwall and Devon). If it means, "thunder," or, "chief thunder/thunder chief," it would seem to come from the Old Norse, from "Thor," after whom "Thursday" is named, the god of thunder in Norse mythology, red haired and bearded, carrying a hammer symbolising the thunderbolt and with lightning flashing from his eyes, son of Odin and Jord, married to Sif, the goddess of fertility, he is also the god of farming, fields, freemen and fertility, not forgetting rain.

She was born on the feast of St Francis of Assisi. "Knowing your love of animals, the environment and all things of nature, you might think it was a good day for Torin to choose to be born."

There's every possibility Torin will be red haired, but we're hoping not bearded ;o)
