We are delighted to announce the birth of Torin Kira Knuckey, born on Saturday 4 October 2008 at 10:15 am. She weighed 7lb 6 oz and was 52cms long.
Early Saturday morning I realised things weren’t quite as they should be, nothing to panic about but just this little feeling, so I woke Roh up. He jumped into action while I had a shower, pottered about, tried to remember what was on my 'to pack' list. Eventually I think he was ready to leave without me!
We headed off to get an assessment at the hospital, where we found out that I was in the early early stages of labour. Having been told very specifically I was not allowed to go into full labour, it's a good job we went in. The practice in Edmonton (at least) is that all breach babies have to be born via c-section, to ensure mum's and babe's health.
We were given the option of going home and being monitored for a few days, every day, or having our baby. Torin clearly wanted a say in her birth day date and 2.5 hours after we checked in she joined us, via the sun-roof in my tummy.
After 3 days in hospital, Torin and I came home to a pair of uninterested cats and our new life as a family of 3. We’re so very delighted to introduce our beautiful baby girl to you.
