With you there's always a brighter day

The problem with being away is that there are lots of things you experience which could end up on the blog, until you forget them or they're just no longer relevant. Once again it was a week of travelling - Winnipeg, Calgary and Fort McMurray. Still, it all adds up on the Aeroplan miles. It was lovely to get home but I was so tired all Roh saw of me was my head on the pillow.

Fort McMurray is very beautiful. Lots and lots of trees and flying in was breathtaking. I had a minor breakdown at Hertz. My preference is a midsize car (and that's large) and I was presented with a Chevvy Avalance: possibly the BIGGEST truck going! After climbing in to test my theory I climbed out and asked for something considerably smaller, or a taxi. Gulp.

In FMM the advice I'd been given was not to stay still for too long - with a male to female ratio of 7:1 apparently a wedding proposal would be in the offing as a stationary target :) Luckily I managed to escape that one!

Flying home I watched the trail of cars driving the 250km or so down to Edmonton (to or from civilisiation?) and then there were just wide expanses of darkness with the odd homestead in the middle. There's certainly a lot of land up here.

We're still down to getting our marriage license and finalising the ceremony, oh and my flowers but a friend is helping with those. Just 5 weeks to go! Roh thinks I'm milking this wedding thing for all it's worth as I am having a hen night here too (aka stagette/ batchelorette/ whatever). It's not my fault he proposed and then skipped town before he could have his stag do in the UK.
