The hour long game (3 x 20 mins) started at 8pm and finished at 10:30. Entertainments included the Small Stars - kiddies playing - and an obstacle course to win an Oilers jersey. Taking fellow Brits (Tim & Isis) was fun but perhaps not the best game plan as they were not able to answer the multitude of questions we had. Having been brought up on hockey (field) it was a bit confusing:
* they could use both sides of the stick
* and their feet
* and their hands
* there was no offside rule
* and no yellow or red cards (but the sin bin was popular - the Oilers filled it at one point)
Don't even start me on understanding the rules, but we still had lots of fun. Edmonton Oiler and Calgary Flames fans sat togther and the fighting was restricted to the guys on the ice rink - which was probably the most exciting part of the game.
Because the Oilers were losing a lot of folks left early to get the LRT (train) home but we stuck it out to the bitter end, so today we're a bit weary and taking it very easy. Still, as my exams are over I feel I deserve some r&r time!
