I don't really know how to describe this but when I found out Ikea were selling bags of mini dime (Daim) bars I grabbed two off the shelf and barely contained myself from ripping open the bags and feasting. Once through the checkout I did just that.
It's not the same as a trip home to the UK where you can indulge in all the normal things we used to eat - prawn cocktail crisps, milk chocolate, sunblush tomatoes, peppery rocket salad... A sudden hit of the unexpected taste, on foreign soil - priceless. That said, the availability here of things like Pringles, Ribena, Lindor chocolate :o) and other bits and pieces is better than the USA, so we're not completely bereft.
With real milk chocolate and crispy caramel centre melting on my tongue I probably looked quite a sight in the cafe, but who cares?
Afterwards I headed off to the new WalMart store and found, to my delight, a cheese toasty maker. A year without cheese toasties - inconceivable.
So a double whammy of taste sensations.
Justine's mum is over from the UK and has bought me some M&S clothes, Jenny bought some Bisto gravy (believe it or not that's not available here either) and we're compiling a small list for Brenda when she arrives in a few weeks.
I've a feeling that advert and film quotes have dominated this post. Can you spot them all?
