Travelled out

Have you missed me? It's been kinda chaotic here for a while... Man, am I tired? 4 weeks of travelling to lots of different places: Winnipeg, Regina, Vancouver, Bowen Island, Kelowna, (Edmonton - does it count) and Calgary. By the time I was back in Calgary I'd forgotten what the inside of the airport looked like. Luckily my navigating skills weren't so bad as it was my first time driving there. Nicolette didn't seem to mind if I missed the odd turn, at least I knew where I was.

9 months into the job and it's been a little crazy this past month as I've been rolling out Performance Management (everyone's favourite time of the year). In the middle of all of that we moved house to our own place :o) It's fantastic, if a little dusty. Roh is currently trying to work out how to get his surround sound to work and I'm supposedly unpacking the last few boxes in my room. Still, taking the odd break for R&R is OK, it's my mess I suppose.

Having friends to help on moving day was brilliant. Greg had been a mover during a Summer break and between his organisation skills and the energy and enthusiams from Stephan and Yuuns (and Roh, of course) we were pretty much all done on the Saturday, with just some 'odds and sods' to cart to the new place throughout the week. Other bits of the move were not as straightforward as they could have been...

I spent 30 minutes at Canada Post on the 14th, working out how to get a key for our mailbox. At first they told me I had the post code wrong, but some searching later and we were found. Sadly the key to the mailbox doesn't work so we have to pursue that one. Then Shaw (internet/ Phone) were due round on Friday to set up the phone and internet, but because it's a Telus (internet/ Phone) connection box, there were a few hiccups, that and some kind building person had decided to knock over the hub in the street next door. That was fixed but we're functioning on wireless for now, until the rooms are connected.

The cats seem very settled and are having lots of fun, usually at 5am when they run across us and wake us up playing catch. Not very impressive. Still, at 4pm in the afternoon we do return the favour and rudely awaken them and pester them. All's fair, after all.

It's been lovely to hear of another baby girl to friends in the UK - Katie this time - and I've been trying to keep up with cards and pics, but it got a bit chaotic with the house move. Still, like I say, I'm organising it all now. Honest!

Sadly, Isis and Tim have returned to the UK, gone but not forgotten but in the process of saying goodbye I met a new friend, Lisa. So, where one door closes another one really does open.

The next few weeks look like they'll be a little quieter, but I don't want to tempt fate.
