I find it phenomenal that, while standing in the queue at the airport, some numptys in the queue behind me were laughing and joking about taking loaded guns on the 'plane. I mean...! I tried to disassociate myself from them as quickly as possible. In my rush to do so I left my laptop behind at security.
This week found me in Winnipeg and Milwaukee. I'm getting to know a few more faces and I braved driving myself around Winnipeg for the first time. I was staying at the Fort Garry, and all was good until I got into the lift and interruped a couple talking about haunted rooms. Having reassured them, and me, that I wasn't in the haunted room I quickly exited. If you've seen The Shining, you'll understand this ... the corridoors were reminiscent of those in the film, and all I could think of was REDRUM written in blood on the walls. Not so much fun, but 3 hours of CSI and a time zone shift later , I was sleeping like a baby. One bonus of being away is no cats waking me up in the middle of the night :)
Getting to the airport wasn't so much fun. It's a 20 minute journey and, an hour later ,I was just driving in, very late for the flight and not sure I'd make it. It must have been the fastest dash through US Border security ever. Thank's St Christopher!
Meeting some of the other HR folks was really great. We have a Summit in Chicago in a few weeks but this was an early taster. As usual, a few of the crew decided to continue drinking. Michelle and I pleaded an early flight and Terry pleaded pregnancy, so they came round to my room and we watched Catch and Release. The flight home was much less eventful and involved lots of sleeping.
It's stinking hot back in Edmonton, up to 24 degrees and no air. We're probably going to buy a small air conditioner next week to keep us going. From one extreme to another, but it's still all good.
