not so traveltastic

I do have to tell you that already this story amuses me, for the farce of it as much as anything else.

Wednesday night I'm on my own in Calgary so I head off to the shopping centre to mooch around and decide on getting a burger at a well known chain. The Crossword clue is:
Overweight(3)beef patty(6). Having taken my receipt out to get my take away, I headed to the car.

While navigating my way out I went the wrong way on the Deerfoot (motorway) and the next exit was coned off. The 2nd next exit about 10km away was open but there was a train, so huge traffic jam. I eventually turned around and headed back to the hotel. The room had a microwave and I settled in to my chicken burger, chips and milkshake.

2 hours later my dinner and I parted company. Luckily I had a packet of Ritz tucked away in my bag and that got me through.

This morning I ate breakfast, checked out and went to put my receipt in my wallet - no wallet in handbag. Car checked, bags checked, back to hotel to check room. Nothing. Ring restaurant:
'sorry madam, if a wallet was found it would be in the office, the manager won't be in until Midday and I can't get into the office and I have no number for him'. Sigh.

Police report and cancelled credit cards later. Hmmm, now, how do I get home seeing as you have to have photo id to get on a 'plane? Roh scanned and sent work permit and passport and Ian at work took out some cash so I could pay for the hire car at the airport. Worst case scenario, I take the car and drive home.... :(

Finally get through to restaurant manager - nothing.

Try hotel once more - they'd found it! Marvellous.

Having said all that, I did have a good trip in Calgary. I was a bit uncomfortable and shocked myself when I got home as my ribs, since pregnancy started, have grown 5 inches. The way I feel that happened this week. Ouchee. And since last week I've put on 6lbs and 1 in on both my belly and hips. Wow!

Susan was an absolute darling, she'd organised some baby gifts from herself and the office, including a fabulous cream bunny and some lovely clothes. I am so spoilt (and so is baby). I have to mention the healthpod too - absolutely marvellous!
