Cor blimey, it's hot out. Roh is hiding in the basement (fixing his PC) and I'm lolling around wondering what to do with myself. That, of course, could also be attributable to the copious amounts of alcohol I drank last night. We (Jenny, Abbie and Sabrina) got to Suite 69 at 9:45 - 15 minutes of happy hour left and we all got a round in, so 4 drinks each to get through.
As the night went on we watched a crazy thunderstorm head towards us: the sky blackened as the clouds rolled in and then there was sheet and forked lightening. At the first huge, warm raindrops we headed inside and took up residency on the dance floor. This didn't last long, having listened to Tiffany, Queen, Vanilla Ice (!) from outside we got in to a very strange complication: Like A Prayer into Rockin' Robin into hip hop/ dance. Still, it was fun. Next time we need a place with aircon though.
Getting home was it's usual trauma. We left early as we wanted to have some success in getting a cab. Two cautions between us (not me!) for jay walking from the very nice policie offiers later, we were heading home. As 3 of the 4 of us were from England/ Ireland we could play the innocent tourist, a little.
I got home to a blackout in Blackburne, creeping in and taking off make up etc. to try not to wake up Roh. I didn't succeed, but I think that was more from the heat and no fan working, than me being noisy.
So waking up this morning was fairly traumatic, but I'm surviving the day and we've just been for a trip to the house. On the way we stopped by MacKewan - there was a fire there last Saturday and a whole apartment complex (100 familes) was razed to the ground. Apparently it was arson, it looks like a bomb site and houses 2 streets away have melted sidings. The community have really pulled together with collecting 'stuff' and cash to help rebuild homes and lives. It was so luck no one was killed, but they're now changing the fire regs. If it hadn't been contained the whole estate could have gone up. Very scary.
So, our place is coming along nicely, the kitchen and bathroom cabinets are all in and the lights. There's a silly low light in the 'nook' next to the kitchen that we'll have to figure out what to do with but it's very exciting. Hopefully next week the flooring will start to go in. It's too hot to go get my camera otherwise I'd post some more pics of everything.
